MailMan
Software

Mailman

Computer Services has recently introduced a product to allow users to read e-mail via a web page (similar to hotmail). This product is called Mailman and is available via the internet at http://www.wvstateu.edu/~mailm an.
By using mailman, users gain the ability to read e-mail from any computer that has a browser and an internet connection. In addition, user mail is not automatically deleted from the system. If you read your e-mail via mailman, you can go to your office of personal computer and use another mail program ( such as Eudora ) to download and read the same message. However, Mailman does allow users to delete mail messages if they wish.
Security Hints: If you use Mailman in a public place, please check the box which clears the cache of your e-mail. Also be sure to logout and to close Netscape or Internet Explorer after using Mailman. Mailman software is provided by the Endymion Co rporation.

Virus Protection

Mac Virus Protection

Current campus-wide virus protection does not cover Mac or apple machines. If you own a Macintosh you can go to McAfee to find virus protection software. Computer Services has no current plans for purchasing an anti-virus software license for Macintosh. If you wish to purchase the software you must do so by user or by department. Computer Services promotes the use of F-Prot virus protection software for IBM and compatibles. This software is available on the campus software download site and is updated on a regular basis.
