FIRST-TIME STUDENTS who have never attended college must submit a WVSU or WVSCTC application form, a high school transcript or GED certificate, and ACT or SAT scores to the Office of Admissions in 106 Ferrell Hall. Applications may be submitted online; other materials must be sent or brought to the Admissions Office in 106 Ferrell Hall. Spring high school graduates who have previously taken college courses in high school or on campus with special student status must complete the full admission process before taking summer classes.
TRANSFER STUDENTS who have attended other colleges must submit a WVSU or WVSCTC application from and an official transcript from each college attended to the Office of Admissions. Transfer students who have completed 30 hours or less of college credits must also submit a high school transcript or GED certificate and ACT or SAT scores.
READMITTED STUDENTS who have previously attended WVSU or WVSCTC but are not currently enrolled or returning as transient students from another college must submit a WVSU/WVSCTC readmission form to the Office of Registration and Records in 128 Ferrell Hall. Students on academic probation must have their readmission forms approved in the Office of Academic Affairs in 131 Ferrell Hall prior to registration.
TRANSIENT STUDENTS who are currently enrolled at other colleges must submit a WVSU or WVSCTC application form and a transient approval form from the home institution.
POST-BACCALAUREATE STUDENTS taking undergraduate courses must submit a WVSU or WVSCTC application form and either an undergraduate transcript or diploma as evidence of graduation.
GRADUATE STUDENTS who are applying for admission to the West Virginia State University masters degree programs in Biotechnology or Media Studies should complete WVSU graduate applications in the Office of Admissions or have graduate applications sent to them electronically by calling 304-766-3102 for Biotechnology or 304-766-3195 for Media Studies.

CONTINUING STUDENTS should register for Summer School 2008 by touchtone telephone or on-line in their assigned time slots April 7-18 at the same time they register for Fall Semester 2007. These students may continue to register online or by telephone during open registration April 21-May 16 for both the 3-week and the 6-week sessions. Once telephone registration for Summer School ends on May 16, continuing students may register in person in the Office of Registration and Records until classes begin for each session. Continuing students must see an academic advisor before registering.
NEW FIRST-TIME AND TRANSFER STUDENTS may register in person from April 23 until classes begin for each session in the Office of Registration and Records in 128 Ferrell Hall. New first-time and transfer students must see an academic advisor before registering. Academic advisors will be available during regular office hours throughout the Spring Semester and advisors will be in departmental offices on Friday, May 23, and Friday June 13.
New 4-year students who are undecided about a major should see an advisor in the department that most closely fits their interests. For assistance in choosing or locating departmental advisors 4-year students should contact the WVSU Office of Academic Affairs in 131 Ferrell Hall or by phone at 304-766-3043.
New 2-year students who are undecided about a major should contact Ms. Judith Whipkey in 301 Cole Complex (304-766-3028) or Ms. Melanie Walters in 302 Cole Complex (304-766-4107). For assistance in choosing or locating departmental advisors 2-year student should contact the WVSCTC at 304-766-3118.

Transient students are not required to see a WVSU or WVSCTC academic advisor, but are welcome to consult departmental advisors for information regarding particular courses.
POST-BACCALAUREATE STUDENTS taking undergraduate courses may register in person at the Office of Registration and Records from April 21 until the beginning of classes for each session. Post-baccalaureate students are not required to see an academic advisor but are encouraged to do so if they need assistance.

TUTION/FEES for Summer School are assessed on a per credit basis. Bills will be mailed to students registering for either session through May 2. No bills will be mailed to students registering after May 4. For students registering after May 2, charges will show on their accounts as soon as they register, and the balances can be obtained by accessing accounts through My State (http://mystate.wvstateu.edu). Bills may also be issued to these students on request at the cashier’s window in Ferrell Hall.
PAY DATE: Whether or not they receive bill in the mail, all students registering through May 16 for either session must pay by May 16 to hold their classes in both sessions. Students registering for either session after May 16 must pay at the time of registration.
REFUNDS for students who withdraw from summer classes will be made in accordance with the dates on the 2008 Summer School academic calendar. Beginning June 17 no refund will be made for a reduced schedule (dropping only one of two classes) in the 6-week session.
CREDIT CARDS: West Virginia State University accepts major credit cards at the cashier’s window in Ferrell Hall and at the bookstore in the Wilson Student Union.

ACADEMIC LOAD: A student may take a maximum of three classes during Summer School: one class in the 3-week session and two classes in the 6-week session. A student taking a summer-long class such as an internship or Co-op may take only two other classes. A student on academic probation may take only two classes during Summer School.
WITHDRAWAL FROM COLLEGE/DROPPING A CLASS: See the Summer School academic calendar for the dates governing the assignment of grades of W for classes dropped for each summer session.
COOPERATIVE EDUCATION: Eligible students may register for Co-op through June 6 for a maximum of three credits.
